The big list of published settings for the D100 family of RPGs

67 comentarios

There are several role-playing games that use the basic D100 system. It all started with the 1st edition of RuneQuest, but currently there are many more. Some of them are made to tell tales of mystery and horror, like Call of Cthulhu. Others like RuneQuest Glorantha, the BRP system, OpenQuest, and Mythras were made for fantasy. But hey, there are many genres and settings you can enjoy with any version of the D100 system, regardless of which ruleset, in particular, you like the most. Since all D100 systems are very similar, one of their main advantages is that all the published supplements done for any other game that uses D100 basic rolls are very easy to use. Here's a list that André Jarosch published on Facebook in March 2018.

I have since added some more supplements and settings to this list. If you see there's any missing, leave a comment and I'll include it in this post! You can now scroll down to read the list below! (BTW, an asterisk at the end of the entry means the publication is no longer in print AFAIK).

That's a long list, but have I missed any? Do you know any other settings published for the D100 family of role-playing games?

A good degree of compatibility between all D100 systems has always been a feature of these games. So if you happen to be thinking "What campaign could I run now?", you know you don't need to limit it to the settings published for one particular D100 game. All the supplements and settings for any other D100 system are available! OK, some are easier to use than others, and some are hard to find nowadays, but still. For example, I've been using some RQ2 supplements for my Gloranthan campaign with RQ3 straight away with no conversion necessary. For my samurai campaign with RQ6 I've used scenarios with stats for Legend with no trouble at all. And in the future, I'll keep using RQ2 Gloranthan scenarios with RuneQuest Glorantha. What about you? Have you ever enjoyed this compatibility by using any of these settings to play with another D100 game of the same family? ;^)

BTW, I've also added Cthulu Rising and Colonial Terrors, two monographs available from Chaosium.

    2. There are four sapient species living in the rift sector, an intersecting space of the four spheres of influence.
Your basic characteristics (intelligence, leadership, sensitivity, dexterity, agility, physical, health, size, and appearance) are generated with 3d6. Optionally by allocating points. The species add or subtract to the rolls.
Hit points are physical plus health. You have total hit points and optionally location hit points. Other physical statistics (healing rate, consciousness, stunned, knockout, run, jog, sprint, lift, carry, and throw) depend on the basis characteristics. Skills rolls using a D100. There are critical successes and failures.
A player of Runequest will feel at home with the rules quickly. Only the power characteristic or it's equivalent is missing. No mutant powers.
There are rules for robots, the construction of starships and a very good system for generating believable planets. I never played the game. It is a hard sci-fi setting in the tradition of Heinlein, Dickson, Harrison, Vance.

    1. Genial, ¡muchas gracias Amadís! Ya he añadido todas tus aportaciones.

  18. Nice work, Runeblogger. I think you have omitted the "Convicts & Cthulhu" setting, in the penal-colony days of Australia. From the publisher (no relation of ours): 'The Convicts & Cthulhu setting is published by Cthulhu Reborn Publishing and is available via RPGNow and DrivethruRPG as a “Pay-What-You-Want” title.'

  21. What is also missing in historical settings, in my opinion are the following settings:

    * Portuguese/Europeans in Africa/India 1497-1600
    * Dutch "Golden Age"
    * Stone Age/Early Bronze Age settings (Why not play as Özi, man in the ice? Ok, we do not know much about that time, but would be a nice setting for some more phantastical stuff).

    4. Puedo confirmar que en la version previa (Ultimate guide to...) La información para jugar con legend venía integrada, (posea el ultimate mongol empire guide) en el caso actual, los "tabletop gaming guide" se diferencia en que vienen varios pdf, uno de puro trasfondo de unas 50 páginas que es una buena introducción aunque en general te deja con ganas de más y un pdf aparte para cada una de las reglas que soporta, savage, egs y legend.

    1. Thank you for the suggestion, but Zeb's Fantasy Roleplaying Game only involves a D100 roll that is crossed on a table with your score in the skill being used. I mean, it isn't a "roll under your percentile score", so I'm not sure it can really be included here.

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1192053011/drakar-och-demoner-dragonbane
